Unau, or Two-fingered sloth, or Coleopus DidactylusI am an unau, also known as the Southern Two-toed Sloth or Linnaeus's two-toed sloth. Scientists call me the Choloepus didactylus. I belong to the Xenarthra which means "strange joints" (due to my extra articulations). There is another two-toed sloth specie: the Hoffmann's sloth (Choloepus hoffmanni).

Me and my fellows Unaus measure from 27 cm to 1 m. We weight 400 grammes at birth, and up to 8.5 kgs when adults.

I am an omnivore, I eat buds, fruit, tuberous roots, and sometimes small prey.

Oh! And, unlike my friends Ais, I'm nocturnal, bigger, "wilder" and more defensive.

Beware as I bite !
